Meningiomas are the most common benign brain tumor although a minority may be more aggressive subtypes (atypical or anaplastic meningioma). Meningiomas arise from the coverings of the brain (meninges) and can be located in nearly all regions of the brain and base of the skull. The optimal treatment for the great majority of symptomatic meningiomas is maximal surgical removal. Fortunately, most meningiomas can be removed through a keyhole surgical route. At the Pacific Brain Tumor Center we have one of the world's largest experiences treating all types of meningiomas with keyhole and endoscopic approaches, conventional approaches as well as treating residual, recurrent and atypical meningiomas.
