Video Discription |
Skin Cancers or cutaneous malignancies are a fairly common type of cancers with diverse etiology and presentation. Most common broad categorization is Melanoma vs non-Melanoma skin cancers (esp.Squamous cell Carcinoma and Basal Cell Carcinoma). Melanomas are more common in countries like Australia and New Zealand, and also in some European nations. Whereas, in India Non melanoma skin cancers are quite frequent. The natural history, Etiopathology and management of each type is different, but basic principal of surgical resection remains same : Oncological Safety. In this video we discuss the technique for safe and oncologically sound resection of skin cancers.
Skin cancers are unique in a way because skin is the most visible organ of human body, and hence, most lesions on the skin can be evident in early stages to an observant individual (except in some cases where the location is cryptic or in some amelanotic melanomas) .Early detection and managment is the key to a successful outcome, as in most cancers.
