| Video Discription | Ectopic pregnancy happens when the pregnancy attaches to any other area other than the normal position in the uterus. Most usually when we say ectopic pregnancy we refer to pregnancy being in the fallopian tube. A very rare form of ectopic pregnancy happens when the pregnancy is still inside the uterus but attaches to the site of the previous caesarean scar. Like a tree burrowing into the wall, the pregnancy burrows into the scar and attaches itself to it. This also increases the blood supply to the area tremendously. Removal cannot happen by the normal methods of 1. Dilatation and Evacuation 2. Methotrexate 3. Mifepristone and Misoprostol as all three of them will only prolong the problem and cause excessive bleeding, sometimes leading to the patient's life being critical. Most of the times, complications happen because the scar ectopic is not well diagnosed and when traditional methods are employed to remove it, tragedy strikes. Open surgery is one option to remove the scar ectopic but this should not be employed as open surgery has complications for the patient and slows down the recovery. Laparoscopy is far more technically challenging but the best method suited to this procedure as it ensures the best view thus the safest and quickest way to deal with the problem and the patient is almost ready to go home in 24 hours.
