| Video Discription | Diagnostic laparoscopy is an effective diagnostic tool for evaluation of certain significant and correctable tubo-peritoneal and intrauterine pathologies like peritoneal endometriosis, adnexal adhesions, and sub-septate uterus, which are commonly missed by other imaging modalities. While laparoscopy gives you an outside image of the uterus, fallopian tubes, and ovaries, hysteroscopy gives you the inside view of the uterus. PCOS is a common entity in modern day gynecology OPDs wherein women present with complaints of irregular menstrual periods. This usually means that a woman does not ovulate every month and may have trouble getting pregnant. When medical management fails to resolve the issue, some women may be candidates for a surgical procedure called ovarian drilling. Ovarian drilling works by breaking through the thick outer surface and lowering the amount of testosterone made by the ovaries. This can help the ovaries release an egg each month and start regular monthly menstrual cycles. Each ovary is punctured at the most 4 to 5 times during this procedure. This video demonstrates Dr. Hasabe performing Diagnostic HL Scopy and PCO drilling in a case of diagnosed PCOS. |
