Recent studies indicate that mTLE impacts not only the temporal lobe but also induces structural changes in extratemporal regions. mTLE has been shown to cause widespread functional and cognitive deficits, as evidenced by neuropsychological assessments and neuroimaging studies that highlight disruptions in both temporal and extratemporal brain networks, particularly resting-state networks (RSNs). This supports the notion that mTLE is a disorder of extensive network dysfunction. |
