| Video Discription | Some patients develop severe refractory infectious maxillary sinusitis after appropriate maxillary antrostomy. This can be very difficult to resolve with oral or topical antibiotics alone, but patients can do very well by performing an endoscopic medial maxillectomy as shown in this video. This larger opening has been shown to improve outcomes in these scenarios, likely because it improves topical delivery of saline, steroid, and/or antibiotics, and makes postoperative debridement in the office more effective and tolerable by patients. This really is an excellent surgical technique, and every sinus surgeon should have this in their armamentarium. |
