This approach, augmented by the endoscope, allows for excellent access and visualization of pathology in the region of the pituitary gland and optic nerves (vision nerves). This patient underwent this approach for biopsy of the lesion, which was proven to be a germinoma. Though a malignancy, this is highly responsive to radiation and chemotherapy, which also allows for vision preservation.
