The meeting was organized by the Chinese Association of Cardiovascular Surgeons (CAVS), Cardiovascular Surgery of Jiangsu Medical Society and Sponsored by the Nanjing First Hospital, Nanjing Medical University - Jilin Heart Hospital During the presentation I share my enthusiasm for Robotic Coronary Revascularization. Its role in offering Bilateral thoracic Arteries to all comers with a moderate SYNTAX score and in which multi arterial CABG associated with PCI stents could represent the best way to treat coronary patients in a near future. Robotic CABG not as a substitute or competitor of sternotomy CABG but rather a tool in the hands of an expert in coronary surgery to treat, together with interventional cardiologists, a specific subset of patients with coronary artery disease. Unfortunately, despite the clear benefit of a multi arterial, sternotomy free coronary revascualarization surgery, industry is still lacking in supporting this niche. While Intuitive does not offer an Endowrist Stabilizer for its latest robotic platform - Da Vinci Xi - Aesculap has discontinued one of the most important tool in minimally invasive CABG surgery: the Flex A distal anastomotic connector. A growing community of young coronary surgeons are looking forward to new Robotic Industries that are coming into the market and they might want to penetrate the market where Intuitive has failed to succeed: robotic coronary surgery. |
