| Video Discription | This patient presented with one year left eye complains and was admitted for surgery after image findings demonstrated this giant supraclinoid aneurysm. This 3D rendering utilizing the patient’s CTA and 3D spin angiogram allowed the surgical team to visualize the aneurysm in a 360 degree fashion to understand the relationships in the anatomy prior to operating. Specifically by digitally removing the bone, Dr. Joshua Bederson, Chair of Neurosurgery at Mount Sinai Health System, was able to visualize the neck of the aneurysm. Integrating the 3D simulation with Navigation allowed for a real time drilling guide intraoperatively. Dr. Bederson was able to perform this complicated case with more confidence and therefore potential decrease in possible complication. Simulation has given Mount Sinai, the surgical teams, and observers the ability to preoperatively appreciate the relationships between structures in 3D and rehearse the surgery. The education and understanding has truly been invaluable. |
