| Video Discription | The Rezum™ water vapor therapy for the minimally invasive treatment of BPH Benign prostate hypertrophy (also: enlargement, hyperplasy, BPH) is a natural process of structural and dimensional modifications of the prostate gland during a male's life. In the center of the prostate a new tissue is formed that progressively grows bigger (adenoma). This condition may cause symptoms in some males (difficulty of voiding, urgency, nocturia etc). Medical therapy or surgery are treatment options but may have side effects, complications or may cause anejaculation. Water vapor therapy with the Rezum™ is a minimally invasive endoscopic therapy for symptomatic BPH of small or medium size prostates (30-60 gr). It can be done in patients willing to conserve ejaculatory function or patients with comorbidities. The advantages are the following: local anesthesia or sedation, short operation time (10-15') and hospital stay (less than 24 h), no bleeding, less pain. In the video we describe the technique. |
