This mesh needs some sort of fixation to hold it in place till the body develops fibrosis/scar that would integrate the mesh in the scar-plate. Traditional fixation devices "tacks" were metallic, which then progressed to absorbable materials. However even the absorbable "tacks" penetrate through the tissue & may cause pain. Surgical grade glue has been around for decades & now its been applied to mesh-fixation to eliminate the fixation related pain component completely.
