| Video Discription | We present a video of a single-site total laparoscopic hysterectomy in a 51yo with chronic pelvic pain. Single-site laparoscopic hysterectomies are traditionally more complicated mostly due to the non-ergnonimic positioning of the straight stick laparoscopic instruments. This video highlights the articulating ENSEAL® and how it facilitates the performance of a single-site hysterectomy. In this video we will also show that a high uterosacral ligament suspension is feasible in laparoscopic single-site and provides advice to successfully preforming this prolapse procedure. A uterosacral ligament suspension is an operation designed to restore support to the uterus (womb) or vaginal vault (top of the vagina in a woman who has had a hysterectomy). The uterosacral ligaments are strong supportive structures that attach the cervix (neck of the womb) to the sacrum (bottom of the spine). Weakness and stretching of these ligaments can contribute to pelvic organ prolapse. A uterosacral ligament suspension involves stitching the uterosacral ligaments to the apex or top of the vagina, thereby restoring normal support to the top of the vagina. This operation can be done vaginally, abdominally or laparoscopically (“key-hole”), and your surgeon will discuss these options with you. |
