| Video Discription | With our technique, we fully line the vaginal canal with peritoneal lining flap. This allows us to use the penile shaft skin, which would otherwise be discarded, for labia minora. The goal is better longterm aesthetic results, definition, and maintain that skin sensation. Initially the retraction/separation rate was 30% vs the less than 4% of labia minora revision needed with penile inversion vaginoplasty labia technique. Now, 1 year later, it has decreased to slightly less than 10% retraction. So while there is a better aesthetic result, there is still a higher rate of needing revision surgery a year out from surgery if retraction occurs. Other risks are fusion of the labia minora with the labia majora, ingrown hairs, skin cell accumulation in interglacial grooves, assymmetry, and tissue necrosis.
