| Video Discription | Early presacral neurectomies were done using bipolar energy and through a suprapubic laparoscope to mimic the view of the sacral promontory seen at laparotomy. This approach turned out to be unnecessarily tedious and awkward. By 1991, laparoscopic presacral neurectomy was done very simply and rapidly using 3 mm monopolar scissors inserted down the operating laparoscope inserted through the umbilical sheath. While the presacral neurectomy procedure shown in this video is effective, this approach is shown for historical purposes only. The currently recommended technique for presacral neurectomy is shown in another video on this channel, titled "1992 Presacral neurectomy with 3 mm monopolar scissors." |
