This initial step details the creation of the preperitoneal space after an intraperitoneal approach. I always have the robotic forth arm enter form the patients left hand side. This is the location of the Prograsp forceps. This is an excellent blunt tool to facilitate retraction of various tissues throughout this operation. The principles of this initial step phase is to allow good exposure of the prostate and control of the dorsal venous complex.
