| Video Discription | What does "3 Post" Laparoscopic surgery mean. The whole idea of decreasing the ports in any laparoscopic surgery without compromising the patient safety is to increase the difficulty level so as to improve your skills We as surgeons do not get ample amount of surgeries, hence practice to improve the surgical skills is scanty. The only novel way that I found which is really effective is to increase the difficulty level of a simple surgery. How do we do it then - 1 Decrease the number of ports. Less help means individual difficulty increases. 2 Decrease the pneumoperitoneum pressure. lesser the space, more is the difficulty. 3 Do cases under Spinal anaesthesia. Patients deep breaths make the field of surgery shaky hence increasing the difficulty. Conditions apply - 1 First practice like hell on the Endo trainer. 2 Always decrease the ports in presence of a expert laparoscopic surgeon. 3 Observe, observe, observe the masters live in their OR Room. Find a way in to their OT by hook or crook. 4 Start with the easiest of cases. 5 Dont hide behind the logic - "I prefer 4 ports for patients safety" or "how does a one more 5 mm hole matter" 5 Join me as an observer :) |
