| Video Discription | Kidney stones have typically been broken up by way of lithotripsy procedures. But here is an example of a laser procedure which is today referred to as "stone dusting" which morcellates the stone into a sand-like state. Although this is mostly an endoscopic procedure with few outside shots, note the quality of the synchronous audio. The laser machine was quite loud but I was able to deal with this, thanks to the kind of microphone I was using as well as my ability to take out consistent noise in post. As well, it is not typical that a surgeon always says everything that needs to be said during surgery so we sit him or her down for an interview after the case and go through the procedure from A to Z in present tense as if we are doing the case right now. You don't see the surgeon here in this video, but you do hear his extra comments from that interview session. This makes for a fuller program and does not place pressure on the surgeon about delivering audio during the case. If they give good audio, then great! But if they can't for whatever reason, then the interview session makes up what wasn't said during the case. |
