| Video Discription | The Transobturator Mid Urethral Sling (TOMUS) is a medical procedure used to treat stress urinary incontinence (SUI) in women. SUI is a condition in which urine leaks out when pressure is exerted on the bladder, such as during coughing, sneezing, or physical activity. The TOMUS procedure involves the placement of a mesh sling beneath the urethra, which provides support to the urethra and helps to prevent urine leakage. The mesh sling is inserted through small incisions made in the groin area, and then passed through tunnels created under the skin to reach the pelvic region. The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes about 30 to 60 minutes to complete. After the procedure, patients may experience some discomfort or pain, but this can be managed with pain medication. Patients are usually able to return to normal activities within a few days to a week after the procedure.
