The procedure is divided into five major steps: introduction and retrieval of the bag into the abdomen, placement of the specimen inside the bag, extraction of the bag containing the specimen, performing the mechanical morcellation, and checking the integrity of the bag post-procedure. For vaginal morcellation, the process begins with inserting an accordion-folded LapSac into the abdomen via the colpotomy created during a laparoscopic hysterectomy. The specimen is then placed inside the unfolded bag, sealed, and pulled through the vagina for mechanical coring and delivery. In the abdominal approach, the technique involves extending the umbilical incision to introduce and stabilize the bag inside the abdomen using a grasper. The specimen is placed inside the unrolled bag, and the incision is further extended to facilitate the extraction of the bag's opening. A small self-retaining ring retractor is used to optimize visualization, and mechanical morcellation is performed similarly to the vaginal method.
