This video is a demonstration of standardised steps for laparoscopic and robotic TME. The steps include posterior dissection, lateral release, anterior dissection, anterior dissection, postero-lateral and antero-lateral completion and transection of the rectum. Techniques for traction and counter-traction are demonstrated. The aim is to reproduce these steps independent of patient factors, such as gender, BMI or preoperative radiotherapy with the aim to protect nerves and follow oncological principles of the TME plane. |
