| Video Discription | This video demomstrates the latest Otoplasty technique called the Biomechanical technique (BT). BT has been developed by Austrian Expert Otolaryngologist Dr Hermann Raunig over the past 20 years and notably has three major benefits over the other methods, such as the cutting technique & the sewing technique (or commonly know as pinning the ears back). The benefits to BT are : 1. Preserves cartilage 2. Uses absorbable sutures only 3. Minimal scarring- while maintaining the ears natural flexibility and strength. Dr Raunig has performed this technique over 2000 times and has had an incredible amount of long term success with his patients. In this videos, designed for surgeons, Dr Raunig will guide you through an operation in which he demonstrates the key parts of this technique. It is done in general anesthesia in children but for adults it is an office procedure done in local anesthesia.
