| Video Discription | A case of 50-year-old male patient with history of sigmoid mesenteritis and irreversible sigmoid ischemia underwent laparotomy and Hartmann's procedure 6 months ago. Under general anesthesia, the patient underwent laparoscopic reversal of the colostomy: - Extensive adhesiolysis of the small intestine in the pelvis to delineate the dome of the rectal stump (with rectal manipulator inside). - Taking down of the colostomy (proximal loop). Then, the anvil was inserted and fixed using purse-str ing stitch. - To gain length for tension-free anastomosis, the splenic flexure was taken down and the descending colon was mobilized. - Then, an intracorporeal colorectal anastomosis was achieved using a circular stapler (triple-stapling technique). - After that, a silicon drain was inserted into the recto-vesical pouch. Uneventful postoperative course. the patient started Oral intake at the second postoperative day with clear liquids, then semisolid food at the fourth postoperative day. The patient was discharged at the fifth postoperative day |
