| Video Discription | In this video, Microneurosurgical Total Resection of Aggressive and Adhesive Cervical Ependymoma is presented. Surgical management of such adhesive ependymoma is technically challenging. Laminectomies were made at the C3-C5 level by a milling cutter. Following myelotomy, the spinal cord was gently separated bilaterally. It was hard to delineate the tumor and difficult to separate it from the normal neural tissue. At the beginning, the surgical plan was en bloc resection of the tumor. Sometimes, life is not as it is shown in the illustrations, the tumors as well. It was not possible to tent the pia due to the lack of pia because of chronic compression effect of the tumor. Also en bloc resection could not be achieved because the tumor was too adhesive and sticky. Despite all these, no tumor recurrence was detected and the patient was neurological normal postoperatively. |
