| Video Discription | Hi everyone, Iโm Dr. Varun Agarwal, and today Iโd like to share an interesting and rare case that we recently managed using robot-assisted surgery. ๐ค Our patient was diagnosed with a Retrocaval Ureter โ a rare congenital condition where the ureter (the tube that drains urine from the kidney to the bladder) takes an abnormal route behind the major vein of the body โ the inferior vena cava (IVC). This unusual anatomy often causes urinary obstruction, leading to hydronephrosis (kidney swelling) and severe flank pain. ๐ฉบ The Challenge: Traditional open surgery for this condition requires a large incision and has a longer recovery time. But with robotic technology, we were able to perform a precise pyelo-ureterostomy, repositioning and reconnecting the ureter in its normal anatomical pathway โ all through small keyhole incisions. โ๏ธ The Robotic Advantage: 3D magnified vision ๐ฌ Tremor-free, fine suturing precision โ๏ธ Minimal blood loss ๐ง Quicker recovery and less postoperative pain ๐ช The surgery was smooth, and the patient recovered remarkably well.
