Preoperative CT Scann shows no otosclerotic focus. Transcanal approach. Middle ear exploration reveals an isolated congenital stapes ankylosis with normal malleus-incus complex. There is a malformed stapes footplate which is really thick and strong. This video emphazises the specific technique for the long drilling out procedure of such a malformed footplate allowing for a safe stapedotomy.
