AANS President Dr. Jacques Morcos introduced the tribute, highlighting Professor Yasargil’s pioneering achievements, from performing the first microsurgical bypass in 1967 to transforming neurosurgical practice through precision, artistry, and global mentorship. Professor Yasargil’s legacy has shaped generations of neurosurgeons, and his deep love for the neurosciences continues to inspire. Though unable to travel to Boston, Professor Yasargil sent a heartfelt video message from his home in Zurich, which was previewed during the session. Professor M. Gazi Yasargil’s message, read by his esteemed colleague Professor M. Gazi Ugur, expressed gratitude for receiving the AANS Distinguished Service Award on his 100th birthday. |
