| Video Discription | Diaphragma Sellae Meningioma operated by Prof. Dr. Selçuk YILMAZLAR Meningiomas involving the diaphragma sellae may cause visual loss by affecting the optic chiasma. Rerely it affects pituitary stalk, pituitary and hypothalamus. We present a case of a diaphragma sellae meningioma presenting only visual symptoms. A 57-year-old woman came to the our clinic with a symptom of decreased vision in the left eye for 11 months MRI revealed a meningioma arising from the diaphragma sellae. Complete radical tumor extirpation was achieved by extended pterional approach. Diaphragma sella e meningiomas can cause visual symptoms if chiasma are compromised. Visual field deficits and optic atrophy may be the only presentation for these tumors. It is important to differentiate the diaphragma sellae meningiomas from the non-functional pituitary adenomas, Radiological investigations support a clear distinction of the diaphragma sellae meningiomas among the tuberculum sellae meningiomas and pituitary adenomas. It is important to choose the best surgical approach by specifying the location among the pituitary stalk, diaphragma sellae and lesion. |
