| Video Discription | George Theodoropoulos, MD, FACS, FASCRS Associate Professor of Surgery Athens Medical School A 56-year-old female with obstructive defecation syndrome and defecographically appreciated internal rectal prolapse and rectocele was managed by laparoscopic ventral rectopexy, consisted of anterior mobilization of the rectum, recto-vaginal seperation and placement of a biocompatible PVDF mesh that was sutured on the anterior rectal wall and fixed at the sacrum. The peritoneal defect was closed with a continuous suture. The ODS score dropped from 14 to 4 and the patient reported a substantial relief of her constipation and improvement of her quality of life. |
